Bio
Recruited from Doncaster, Murray Browne arrived at Victoria Park with a familiar name as the son of former Collingwood player Robin Browne. A lightly framed wingman and half-back flanker, he relied on his running capacity and distribution skills rather than physical dominance, often tasked with run-with roles during a volatile period for the club in the early 1980s. Despite showing early promise, he struggled to secure a permanent position in the senior side over his five seasons with the Magpies, frequently oscillating between the seniors and the reserves. Seeking greater opportunity, Browne transferred to Fitzroy for the 1986 season, but the move failed to reignite his career; he managed only a solitary senior appearance for the Lions before retiring from top-level football to eventually become a prominent player agent.
