Bio
Originally from Beeac, Murray Gainger progressed through the Melbourne Football Club's lower grades, moving from the Fourths to the Reserves during the Demons' golden era in the late 1950s. Unable to crack a senior lineup stacked with premiership stars, he transferred to Richmond in 1960 in search of regular opportunities. He managed three senior games for the Tigers early in the season, but his VFL career was prematurely ended by a dislocated elbow. Following his brief stint at Punt Road, he continued his football journey in the VFA with Mentone and Moorabbin.
