Bio
Recruited from Caulfield Grammar, Murray Thompson arrived at Punt Road with a notable profile as the son of future Victorian Premier Lindsay Thompson. A pacy and skilful rover capable of rotating through the wing, he possessed excellent disposal skills but faced the difficult task of breaking into Tom Hafey’s powerhouse lineup during the club's golden era. While he managed to play 14 senior games and featured in the 1973 reserves premiership side, his progress was severely hampered by chronic knee issues that eventually forced a premature retirement. Following his brief football career, he followed his father into public service, serving as the Member for Sandringham in the Victorian Parliament for over two decades.
