Bio
A prolific ball-winner and 1985 Sandover Medallist from East Fremantle, Wrensted was a key signing for the inaugural West Coast Eagles squad. The stocky, skilled centreman from Geraldton made an immediate impact with his ability to find the football, but his time at the top level is often cruelly defined by a single moment: a running shot at goal in the dying seconds of the 1988 Elimination Final against Melbourne that drifted wide, costing the Eagles a maiden finals victory. Controversially delisted following that season, he was thrown a lifeline by Collingwood and played 10 games in 1989, showing glimpses of his class on the wing and half-forward. However, he could not break into the Magpies' senior side during their historic 1990 premiership campaign, eventually returning to the WAFL where he cemented his status as a club legend rather than being defined by the misfortune that curtailed his VFL career.
