Bio
Recruited from the Northern Territory with pick 25 in the 2006 National Draft, Nathan Djerrkura arrived at Geelong as a talented prospect but faced the difficult task of breaking into a dominant side on the cusp of a premiership dynasty. His time at Kardinia Park was hampered by the club's immense midfield depth and recurring injuries, limiting him to just four senior appearances across four seasons. Seeking greater opportunities, the explosive midfielder and pressure forward was traded to the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2010, where his pace and tackling intent saw him add 21 games to his tally. Despite showing glimpses of his potential, Djerrkura retired from the AFL at just 24 years of age following the 2012 season, citing a loss of passion for the elite level and a desire to return to his community in Arnhem Land.
