Bio
A noted professional middle-distance runner recruited from Beverley, Ned Richardson brought elite endurance to the half-back flank but took the scenic route to establishing a VFL career. He initially struggled to break into a strong Fitzroy lineup, making just two appearances before drifting out of the league for four years. Richardson eventually found his footing at Punt Road in 1913, becoming a regular fixture in the Tigers' defence before making a rare mid-season switch to Essendon during 1915. Although the Bombers' voluntary wartime recess forced him out of the game for two seasons, he returned in 1918 as one of only two players to feature in every match for the club that year, proving himself a reliable and durable journeyman in his final campaign.
