Bio
A tall recruit originally from Ainslie in the ACT, Neil Bristow earned his shot at VFL level after impressing with Sale in the Latrobe Valley. Standing 193cm, he was brought in to bolster Footscray’s key position stocks and made an immediate impact by debuting in Round 1 of the 1979 season against Melbourne. Despite the early opportunity, Bristow found it difficult to command a regular spot in the senior lineup, often rotating through the side as a backup big man. He managed 10 games and four goals in his solitary season at the Western Oval before parting ways with the club at the end of the year.
