Stats
Bio
Recruited from Albury in the powerful Ovens & Murray League, Neil Brown was a towering ruckman standing 194cm—a massive height for the early 1970s. Balancing football with his career as a school teacher, he broke into the North Melbourne side for two senior games in the middle of the 1972 season, primarily providing relief in the ruck contests. His VFL career was effectively ended by administrative red tape; Brown attempted to transfer to South Melbourne the following year, but after the clearance was blocked, he moved to the VFA to play for Coburg. He eventually returned to the border region, cementing his status as a premier local sportsman in Wodonga as both a footballer and cricketer.
