Bio
Hailing from Broken Hill, Neil Davies arrived at Richmond in 1955 with a formidable reputation, having already earned All-Australian selection and finished runner-up in the Magarey Medal with Glenelg. A classy, versatile utility capable of playing in the centre or holding down a key position, he managed just two senior appearances for the Tigers in the opening rounds of the season. His brief VFL stint was derailed by lingering ankle injuries and a reported dissatisfaction with the club's environment, leading him to depart almost as quickly as he arrived. Davies left a far greater legacy outside Victoria, going on to captain-coach St Mary’s to a premiership in the Northern Territory before returning to South Australia to further cement his status as a Glenelg great.
