Stats
Bio
A premiership ruckman with SANFL powerhouse Norwood, Neil Hein was recruited by the Brisbane Bears as a priority selection ahead of their entry into the VFL in 1987. Standing 199cm, Hein was an agile tall who naturally played in the ruck but often found himself deployed as a forward target at Carrara, largely due to the presence of inaugural captain and primary ruckman Mark Mickan. He etched his name into club history by lining up in the Bears' very first official match, booting two goals in the famous Round 1 upset victory over North Melbourne. Despite this promising start, opportunities remained limited behind Mickan, and after 15 games across two seasons, Hein returned to South Australia to conclude his career with the Redlegs.
