Bio
Recruited from Millicent in South Australia, Neil Sutherland was a tall utility who crossed the border to try his luck in the VFL during the early 1960s. Standing at 191cm, he provided a strong aerial target in attack and could pinch-hit in the ruck, managing to boot 19 goals across his 20 senior appearances. Despite maintaining a decent scoring rate, Sutherland struggled to cement a permanent spot in a powerful Geelong lineup that was rapidly building towards a flag. After managing just a single senior game during the club's premiership-winning 1963 campaign, he returned to his home state the following year to continue his career with Glenelg in the SANFL.
