Stats
Bio
Recruited from North Geelong, Neil Tompkins was a physically imposing figure who balanced his football opportunities with service in the Royal Australian Navy during the final year of World War II. Standing 185cm and weighing 90kg, he possessed a frame well-suited to the heavy contested work of the era, allowing him to hold his own against experienced opponents immediately upon his debut in 1945. He played 12 games for the Cats in that single season, managing three goals, before his VFL career stalled. Although he was eventually cleared to Carlton in 1950, he did not add to his league tally with the Blues and instead cemented his legacy at a local level, where he was later inducted into the North Geelong Football Club Hall of Fame.
