Bio
Recruited from Mentone, Neil Whitaker was a rover who managed a brief senior career with Melbourne during the early 1950s. He joined the club as it was building toward its golden era under Norm Smith, making his debut in the 1952 season. Finding it difficult to cement a regular spot in a squad that was rapidly developing into a powerhouse, Whitaker played just ten games across two seasons, kicking his solitary goal in a win over North Melbourne. He left the VFL at the conclusion of the 1953 season, departing the club just prior to the Demons' famous premiership dynasty.
