Bio
Recruited from Bentleigh High School, Neville Stone was a devoted Melbourne product who worked his way through the club's underage ranks to reach senior level. After captaining the Demons' Under 19s to a premiership in 1964, the 182cm utility made his VFL debut in the opening round of 1966 under legendary coach Norm Smith. Stone proved to be a handy forward-flanker, booting 19 goals across his 35 appearances, though he often found himself oscillating between the senior 22 and the seconds. His tenure at the club ended on a high note in 1969 when he featured in the Reserves premiership victory over Carlton, played as a curtain-raiser before a crowd of nearly 120,000 at the MCG. Following his departure from the VFL, Stone continued his career in the VFA with Waverley before moving to the Gippsland region, where he became a successful coach for Leongatha.
