Bio
Recruited from County Antrim in Northern Ireland, Niall McKeever was a tall, athletic prospect who joined the Brisbane Lions via the international rookie pathway. After impressing scouts at a European training camp, he transitioned from Gaelic football to the AFL, eventually earning elevation to the senior list to make his debut in 2011. Utilised primarily as a key defender, McKeever relied on his closing speed and spoiling ability to compete against opposition forwards, though his disposal and game sense occasionally reflected his late introduction to the sport. Despite showing glimpses of potential across 22 games, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior side and was delisted at the end of the 2013 season, subsequently returning to Ireland.
