Bio
Nick Brushfield was a precocious talent recruited from local club St Mary's, making his senior debut for Geelong at just 16 years of age. A consistent contributor during the club's historic 1925 campaign, he played 16 games as the Pivotonians closed in on their maiden VFL premiership. However, Brushfield suffered a cruel blow on the eve of the Grand Final, spraining his leg and being forced out of the side that ultimately defeated Collingwood for the flag. He retired midway through the following season on medical advice before making a brief comeback in 1927, eventually cementing his legacy as a dual premiership coach with the Geelong Amateurs in the VAFA.
