Bio
Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers with pick 13 in the renowned 2001 Super Draft, Nick Dal Santo became a cornerstone of St Kilda's resurgence under Grant Thomas and Ross Lyon. A silky left-footed midfielder known for his poise, decision-making, and elite disposal efficiency, he provided the polish that complemented the grunt work of teammates like Lenny Hayes and Luke Ball. Over a distinguished tenure at Moorabbin, Dal Santo earned three All-Australian selections and was a vital component of the Saints' formidable engine room during their dominant run, playing in the 2009 and 2010 Grand Final series where the club fell agonizingly short of a premiership.
Following the 2013 season, with St Kilda entering a deep rebuilding phase and facing salary cap pressure, Dal Santo exercised his rights as a restricted free agent to join North Melbourne. The Kangaroos were aggressively targeting experienced talent to push for a flag, and Dal Santo’s arrival added immediate class and composure to their midfield rotation. He proved to be a valuable acquisition, helping the club reach consecutive preliminary finals in 2014 and 2015. His career concluded somewhat abruptly at the end of 2016 when North Melbourne made the controversial decision to delist him alongside three other club veterans, leaving him as a 300-game player who retired without a premiership medallion but with a reputation as one of the silkiest ball-users of his generation.
