Family

Selected by Collingwood with pick 19 in the 1998 National Draft, Nick Davis arrived in the AFL as the son of former VFL journeyman Greg Davis. He quickly established himself as a talented but mercurial forward at the Magpies, featuring in the 2002 Grand Final loss before requesting a trade to Sydney to return to the city where he spent his teenage years. A natural footballer with elite goal sense and strong hands for his size, Davis operated primarily as a medium forward who could provide a spark in the midfield, relying on anticipation and skill rather than aerobic endurance.

His tenure at the Swans defined his standing in the game, specifically his performance in the 2005 Semi Final against Geelong at the SCG. In a defining individual display, Davis kicked four last-quarter goals to single-handedly haul Sydney over the line, acting as the catalyst for the club's drought-breaking premiership that season. However, his career faded prematurely as recurring issues regarding his conditioning and defensive application frustrated the coaching staff. Unable to consistently meet the rigorous physical standards demanded by Paul Roos, he spent much of his final two seasons in the reserves before being delisted at the conclusion of 2008.
