Bio
Recruited from the Prahran Dragons with a late selection in the 1999 National Draft, Nick Stone was a resilient journeyman ruckman who battled for opportunities across three different clubs. After failing to break into Collingwood's senior side during his two seasons at Victoria Park, the 196cm tall was delisted but found a lifeline with Hawthorn via the rookie list. He played the majority of his career in the brown and gold, serving as a backup ruckman and key position option who was often utilised from the interchange bench. Stone displayed characteristic persistence to earn a third chance as a rookie at St Kilda, where he added a final few appearances to his tally as a depth player for Grant Thomas. While he never established himself as a regular senior footballer, his ability to repeatedly fight his way back onto AFL lists showcased a tenacity that later defined his significant post-career success as the founder of the Bluestone Lane coffee empire in the United States.
