Bio
Recruited from Ulverstone in Tasmania, Noel Carter arrived at Richmond during one of the club's most successful eras, initially making his mark as a sharp, goal-kicking rover. Despite possessing excellent ball-winning ability and an eye for the goals—averaging more than one major per game—he faced the difficult task of cracking a midfield rotation dominated by legends like Kevin Bartlett and Francis Bourke. Carter featured prominently during the 1974 finals series but ultimately missed selection for the Grand Final, a recurring theme of near-misses that defined his stint at Punt Road. Seeking greater responsibility and on-field leadership opportunities, he departed the VFL after the 1977 season for the WAFL, where he would eventually solidify his standing as a heavy-scoring midfielder and South Fremantle legend.
