Bio
Recruited from the Wimmera region, Noel Dickson arrived at the Western Oval as an athletic big man with significant country football pedigree. Originally monitored by Melbourne, his transition to the VFL was delayed by a stint of National Service and a season coaching Beulah as a teenager, eventually joining Footscray where the press dubbed him a "mystery recruit" prior to his arrival. Standing 189cm, Dickson was tall for the era and utilised his height as a centre half-forward and relief ruckman, known for his strong overhead marking and long kicking. He broke into the senior lineup two years after the club's maiden premiership, playing 16 games over two seasons as he competed for a spot in a formidable Bulldogs side before departing the league.
