Bio
Recruited from Koroit in the rich footballing territory of Victoria's Western District, Noel Mugavin belongs to a prominent local sporting dynasty and is the uncle of Brisbane Lions champion Jonathan Brown. A skillful half-forward and winger capable of hitting the scoreboard, he played 41 games for Fitzroy between 1978 and 1981 but often found himself on the fringe of regular selection at the Junction Oval. He transferred to Richmond for the 1982 season hoping to cement a senior spot, but found it difficult to break into a formidable Tigers lineup destined for that year's Grand Final. Mugavin managed just two senior appearances at Punt Road, though he finished his brief VFL tenure by featuring in Richmond's 1982 reserves premiership side before returning to country football.
