Bio
Recruited from Braybrook in the club's local metropolitan zone, Norm Armstrong was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who joined Footscray in the years immediately following World War II. Standing just 170cm, he relied on agility and ground-level work to compete against larger opponents, earning his senior debut in Round 7, 1947 against South Melbourne at the Western Oval. He managed to hit the scoreboard with a goal during his first season but found regular selection difficult to secure under captain-coach Arthur Olliver. Armstrong added one final senior appearance in early 1948 before concluding his brief VFL career, remaining a notable example of the local talent pathway that fed the Bulldogs during the late 1940s.
