Stats
Bio
A mature-age recruit from the local Chilwell club, Norm MacKay earned his opportunity at the elite level during the lean years of the First World War. He debuted for Geelong in 1917 at the age of 26, when the club re-entered the VFL competition after a season's hiatus, filling a vital role in a squad depleted by enlistments. Standing 177cm, MacKay was a versatile utility who could rotate forward, notably booting two goals in a low-scoring slugfest against St Kilda in 1918. He was a regular fixture in the senior side throughout the war period, missing very few games over his two seasons, but his VFL career concluded at the end of 1918 as servicemen began returning to the club.
