Bio
Recruited from East Brunswick, Norm McDermott was a diminutive rover and forward who played a brief but serviceable career for Essendon in the late 1930s. Standing at just 173cm, he was a nippy ball-winner capable of hitting the scoreboard, booting 13 goals across his 21 senior appearances. He joined the club as it was beginning to rebuild under the legendary Dick Reynolds, featuring regularly during the 1937 and 1939 seasons. After finishing his time at Windy Hill, McDermott transferred to the VFA to play for Brunswick for two seasons before his football journey was interrupted by service in the Australian Army during World War II.
