Bio
Born in Collingwood, Norm McGorlick was a goal-kicking forward who made a brief but effective contribution to Geelong during the 1908 VFL season. Although his top-level career was limited to just three senior appearances at Corio Oval, he managed to impact the scoreboard with two goals before his life took a significant turn across the Tasman. After emigrating to New Zealand in 1910, McGorlick forged a distinguished path in military and public service, fighting with the Otago Regiment in World War I and later commanding the local Home Guard as a Major during the Second World War. His leadership extended to civic duties in the Southland port town of Bluff, where he served as the longest-tenured Mayor from 1941 to 1956, leaving behind a legacy of community dedication that far eclipsed his short stint in the VFL.
