Bio
Recruited from Castlemaine, Norm Oliver was a pacey wingman who achieved the ultimate success during a brief three-year VFL career. A member of a talented footballing family that saw his brothers Les and George play for Richmond and Melbourne respectively, Oliver utilized the speed that won him a Shepparton Gift to break lines and drive the Magpies into attack. He cemented his place in Collingwood history by holding his spot on the wing for the club's 1910 Grand Final triumph over bitter rivals Carlton. Despite his obvious talent and premiership status, Oliver’s time at the top level was fleeting, spanning just 33 games before he eventually returned to country Victoria, where he tragically died in 1938 while fighting bushfires in the Swan Hill district.
