Bio
Recruited from North Melbourne Juniors, Norm Simpson was a clever and speedy left-footed wingman who became a key contributor for Essendon during the mid-1920s. He established himself early as a big-game player, featuring as one of the Bombers' best in the 1925 semi-final loss to Collingwood, and followed up with a runner-up finish in the club's Best and Fairest award the following season. Known for his high marking ability despite his smaller stature, Simpson earned representative honours with selection in a League side against Bendigo in 1929, though injuries significantly restricted his output during the 1928 season. After leaving the VFL to join Yarraville in 1933, he returned to Essendon just a year later to serve as the reserves coach.
