Bio
Recruited from Box Hill in the VFA, Norm Thompson was a depth player who struggled to break into a formidable Footscray lineup during the club's 1954 premiership era. He managed just six senior games across two seasons at the Western Oval, finding it difficult to dislodge the established stars of the Bulldogs' emerging powerhouse side. After spending the 1955 season out of the league, Thompson received a second chance with St Kilda in 1956, where he added five games and kicked his only VFL goal. He eventually departed the top level to continue his career in the VFA with Brunswick, concluding a brief VFL stint defined by the challenge of earning selection in a champion team.
