Bio
A tangible link between Footscray’s VFA heritage and their early VFL campaigns, Norm Woodman was a reliable defender who finally broke into the League side as a 26-year-old. Having already featured in the Tricolours' backline during their final Association years in the early 1920s, he had to bide his time after the club's 1925 promotion, eventually earning his senior debut in 1928. Woodman established himself as a consistent defender capable of holding his own in one-on-one contests, though he possessed enough versatility to drift forward and contribute the occasional goal. He remained a fixture in the team for three seasons, providing experienced cover in defence as Footscray fought to establish credibility in the elite competition before his departure in 1930.
