Bio
Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers with pick 7 in the 2012 National Draft, Echuca native Ollie Wines made an immediate impact at Alberton, debuting in Round 1 and earning a Rising Star nomination in his first season. Built like a quintessential inside midfielder, Wines quickly established himself as a contested ball magnet capable of winning hard possession at the coalface and driving the Power forward. His durable frame and appetite for physical contests made him a linchpin of the club's engine room, forming a formidable combination with Travis Boak and Robbie Gray through the club's competitive eras under Ken Hinkley.
Wines etched his name into Power history in 2021 when he became the first Port Adelaide player to win the Brownlow Medal in the AFL era, polling a record-breaking 36 votes alongside his maiden All-Australian selection. His leadership journey included a stint as co-captain in 2019, though he eventually stepped back from the official role to focus on his own game, a decision that preceded his career-best form. Now a stalwart of the club with well over 250 games of experience, Wines remains a vital physical presence in the midfield rotation, offering brutal consistency and mentorship as a distinguished one-club player.
