Bio
A persistent mature-age recruit, Orren Stephenson earned his shot at the top level at age 29 after establishing himself as a premier ruckman in the VFL with North Ballarat. Selected by Geelong with pick 78 in the 2011 National Draft, he became one of the oldest first-time draftees in the modern era, brought in to provide immediate depth to the Cats' ruck stocks. He played eight games in his debut season, relying on his superior tap work and competitive nature, but was delisted at the end of 2012 as the club prioritised youth. Stephenson found a second home at Richmond via the rookie draft, where he served as a reliable backup to Ivan Maric for two seasons, adding another seven games to his career tally before retiring as a respected example of perseverance.
