Bio
Recruited from West Perth with pick 21 in the 2017 National Draft, Oscar Allen arrived at West Coast as a highly touted junior who had claimed the Larke Medal as the best player in the Under 18 Championships. Initially deployed as a versatile swingman capable of plugging holes in defence or providing ruck relief, Allen eventually succeeded Josh Kennedy as the Eagles' primary focal point inside 50. His tenure in Perth was defined by resilience and leadership; despite missing the entire 2022 season due to foot stress fractures, he returned to captain the club during a historically difficult rebuilding phase, often serving as the side's most reliable structural asset.
Renowned for his contested marking, clinical set-shot routine, and work rate up the ground, Allen was one of the few shining lights for West Coast during their struggles near the bottom of the ladder. However, after eight seasons and over 100 games in blue and gold, he departed the club at the conclusion of the 2025 season to join the Brisbane Lions. The high-profile switch saw Allen transition from shouldering the heavy leadership load of a developing Eagles outfit to providing immediate key-position impact for a contending Lions squad.
