Bio
Recruited to Melbourne with pick 53 in the 2014 National Draft, Oscar McDonald arrived at the Demons as the younger brother of established key forward Tom McDonald. A tall key defender capable of intercept marking, he played regular senior football alongside his siblingโfeaturing in the club's 2018 preliminary final runโbut often faced scrutiny regarding his consistency before being delisted at the end of 2020. He earned a lifeline at Carlton via the pre-season supplemental selection period, yet his time at the Blues was marred by persistent back injuries that limited him to just five appearances over two seasons. Refusing to concede his career was over, McDonald produced a stellar VFL campaign with Williamstown in 2023 to secure a third chance at AFL level with Fremantle, where he now serves as an experienced defensive depth option after a knee injury derailed his start at the Dockers.
