Bio
Recruited from the prestigious Geelong Grammar School, Ossie Calvert entered the VFL as a teenager during the league's formative years. He made his senior debut for the Pivotonians as an 18-year-old midway through the 1898 season, but his top-level career was restricted to a brief two-game cameo in the navy blue and white hoops. While he did not manage to impact the scoreboard or secure a regular place in the side, Calvert's legacy is preserved beyond the boundary line; he is recognised on the club's permanent honour roll as one of the past players who served his country in the armed forces.
