Bio
Born in Fitzroy, Ossie O'Connell began his VFL journey as a teenager with South Melbourne, making his senior debut late in the 1903 season. He managed just the solitary appearance for the Bloods before finding himself out of the league the following year, eventually resurfacing at the Junction Oval to join St Kilda in 1905. O'Connell found slightly more continuity with the Saints, playing eight games over two seasons and proving to be a handy option capable of hitting the scoreboard. Despite this second chance, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the starting 18 and departed the VFL scene following the 1906 season, remembered as a depth player who briefly represented two foundation clubs during the league's formative decade.
