Bio
Recruited from the local Dandenong side, Otto Lowenstern broke into the St Kilda lineup during a lean era for the club, making his senior debut in the 1910 season. After managing just one appearance in his first year, he established himself as a reliable defender in 1911, playing 11 games under coach Eddie Drohan as the Saints attempted to lift themselves from the bottom of the ladder. His football career was brief, as he departed the VFL following that season and later emigrated to Canada. Lowenstern is sombrely remembered today as one of St Kilda's fallen soldiers; after enlisting with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse regiment of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he served on the Western Front and was killed in action in France in 1917.
