Bio
Recruited from Ivanhoe Amateurs, Pat Dalton was a towering key defender who anchored the backline for Collingwood during the tumultuous Second World War era. Standing at 188cm—exceptionally tall for the 1940s—he was a natural full-back who used his height and reach to spoil opposition attacks and clear the defensive zone. Dalton played his best football at Victoria Park in 1944, where he managed 15 appearances, but struggled to retain his spot the following season, eventually crossing to North Melbourne for a solitary senior game in late 1945. Following his brief VFL career, he joined the Victorian Police force and was transferred to the Goulburn Valley, where he established a lasting legacy in country football as a premiership-winning coach with Shepparton East.
