Bio
Arriving at the Lakeside Oval with a formidable reputation from the local leagues, Pat Hogan was a prolific ball-winner who had previously dominated the Metropolitan Football League with South Melbourne Districts. The diminutive rover capped off his pre-VFL apprenticeship by claiming a league Best and Fairest, earning his call-up to the senior side in 1953 where he showed flashes of his goal-kicking ability. Although his top-level career was restricted to just 10 games over two seasons, Hogan holds a unique place in the club's history as the trailblazer for a notable family dynasty. He was the first of three brothers to represent South Melbourne during the decade, paving the way for younger siblings Kevin and Frank to follow in his footsteps and don the famous red and white guernsey.
