Stats
Bio
Recruited from the bayside club of Chelsea, Phillips was a versatile wingman and ruck-rover who graduated to the senior list after tasting success in Richmond’s 1946 Reserves premiership side. He managed 15 senior appearances across two seasons at Punt Road, providing depth in the midfield rotation during the late 1940s. Following his brief stint in the VFL, he returned to the grassroots level as a captain-coach, first with Chelsea and later with Boronia, where he played over 100 games and won a best and fairest. Although his on-field career for the Tigers was short-lived, he remained a dedicated servant of the club for decades, eventually serving as the secretary of the Richmond Former Players and Officials Association until his passing in 1994.
