Bio
Selected by Greater Western Sydney with pick seven in the 2014 National Draft, Paul Ahern's AFL career was heavily impacted by persistent injury setbacks that prevented him from reaching his full potential. He failed to register a senior appearance during his time at the Giants, suffering two ACL tears to his right knee that eventually saw him traded to North Melbourne at the end of 2016 while still in rehabilitation. Ahern finally made his long-awaited debut in 2018, displaying the poise and elite kicking skills that originally made him a top-ten prospect. Although he produced patches of strong form as a classy outside midfielder and later across half-back, he struggled to cement a permanent position in the senior side and was delisted following the 2020 season.
