A tall, left-footed full-back recruited from Scoresby, Paul Barlow graduated from the Tigers' Under-19s program to make his senior debut in Round 4, 1988. His brief stint at the top level served as a baptism of fire, as he was immediately tasked with manning Geelong superstar Gary Ablett Snr in his first game. Barlow managed four senior appearances in his debut season but spent the entirety of 1989 in the reserves before being delisted. While his VFL career was short-lived, he carved out a distinguished tenure in state league football, playing for West Adelaide in the SANFL and becoming a VFA representative star with Port Melbourne, later captain-coaching Vermont to an EFL premiership. In his post-football life, Barlow found significant success in the corporate world, eventually rising to become the Managing Director of CAR Group (formerly Carsales).
