Bio
Recruited from Peel Thunder with pick 46 in the 2005 National Draft, Paul Bower was a rangy defender whose time at Carlton was defined by flashes of potential that were ultimately hampered by injury and inconsistency. Capable of playing both tall and small, Bower played his best football as a loose-checking, rebounding backman, with his intercept marking notably earning him a top-ten finish in the 2009 John Nicholls Medal. However, recurring quad injuries and ongoing scrutiny regarding his defensive application saw him fall out of favour in subsequent seasons. Unable to regain a regular spot in the senior lineup, he was delisted following the 2012 season, finishing his AFL career with 70 games before returning to local football in Western Australia.
