Bio
Born in the United Kingdom, Paul Harding was a mobile ruckman who cut his teeth with East Fremantle in the WAFL before being recruited by Hawthorn during the club's golden era. While he featured in the 1987 Grand Final loss to Carlton, he struggled to lock down a permanent spot amidst a star-studded lineup and subsequently crossed to St Kilda in 1989 seeking greater opportunity. After three seasons as the Saints' primary ruckman, Harding returned to Western Australia to join the West Coast Eagles, a move that ultimately defined his legacy.
Known for his athleticism and ability to cover the ground better than many stationary opponents of the time, Harding became a crucial piece of the Eagles' 1992 premiership puzzle. He provided vital support in the ruck and contested aggressively around the ground, helping the club secure the first-ever flag for a non-Victorian side. Although injuries and competition for spots limited his impact in his final seasons, his contribution to West Coast's breakthrough success remains the highlight of a journeyman career that spanned three clubs and 116 senior games.
