A towering mature-age recruit from East Fremantle, Paul Lindsay was drafted by Geelong via the 1998 Rookie Draft to add immediate depth to their ruck division. Standing 198cm, the West Australian was already an experienced state-league campaigner when he received his call-up midway through the 1999 season, stepping in to partner John Barnes during a brief absence of first-choice ruckman Steven King. Lindsay competed in two consecutive matches against Richmond and West Coast but found it difficult to retain a spot in the Cats' senior lineup, eventually being delisted at the end of 2000 without adding to his tally. Despite his fleeting AFL career, he went on to establish a significant legacy in the SANFL, playing over 150 games for Woodville-West Torrens and anchoring their 2006 premiership side.
