Bio
Originally selected by Hawthorn with a top-20 pick in the 1994 National Draft, Paul Maher failed to register a senior game for the Hawks before heading west to revitalise his career in the WAFL. After impressing as a key forward with East Fremantle, he was thrown an AFL lifeline by the Dockers via the 1998 Pre-season Draft. A tall marking target, Maher demonstrated his potential by averaging a goal a game during his brief stint at the top level, but he found it difficult to command a permanent spot in the Fremantle forward line. He spent the majority of his three seasons at the club playing state football before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2000 season.
