Bio
Originally from Scoresby, Paul McCormack was a hard-at-it defender whose AFL journey began with a developmental stint on North Melbourne's list in the late 1980s. Unable to break into the Kangaroos' senior side, he revitalised his prospects in the VFA with Dandenong, where his standout form in a premiership outfit saw him thrown a lifeline by Carlton in the 1992 Pre-Season Draft. A rebounding half-back flanker known for his physical strength and uncompromising approach to the contest, McCormack managed 14 senior games for the Blues but found it difficult to command a permanent place in a star-studded backline during the club's dominant mid-90s era. After departing Princes Park, he cemented his legacy in the SANFL with Norwood, developing into a premier state-league footballer who represented South Australia and won the prestigious Fos Williams Medal.
