Bio
Recruited from Melbourne Grammar, Paul Thompson was a key position prospect who joined the Demons during the late 1970s. Standing 188cm, he offered size in the defensive half but was forced to bide his time in the reserves during his first year on the list. He eventually broke into the senior side midway through the 1978 season, making his debut against Hawthorn at the MCG and holding his spot for six consecutive matches as a tall defensive option. Despite retaining his place on the list for the 1979 season, Thompson was unable to break back into the senior lineup and was released early in the year, subsequently transferring to the VAFA to play for Old Melburnians.
