Bio
Born in Westbury, Tasmania, Paul White made his way to the VFL via the prolific St Ignatius junior program in Richmond. He broke into the St Kilda senior side as an 18-year-old in 1911 and quickly demonstrated an ability to find the football, recording multiple games with over 20 kicks—a high tally for the era—while playing primarily as a follower or midfielder who set up play rather than finishing it. His career trajectory was severely impacted by the onset of the First World War; after playing until the end of 1914, he missed the 1915 season entirely before St Kilda withdrew from the competition for two years due to the conflict. White remained with the club during the recess and returned to the field when the Saints rejoined the league in 1918, providing experienced bodies in the midfield for two final seasons before concluding his time at the elite level.
