Bio
A polished wingman hailing from South Australia, Percy "Bill" Bice arrived at Tigerland with an impressive pedigree as a premiership player for SANFL club Norwood. His brief VFL tenure was entirely dictated by his military service during World War II; after enlisting in the AIF and serving in New Guinea, he was stationed in Victoria where he initially signed with South Melbourne before being cleared to Richmond. Bice holds the rare distinction of walking directly into the Tigers' senior side without playing a single reserves, thirds, or practice match, yet he immediately impressed with his class and ball use. Captain-coach Jack Dyer described him as the club's "best find" of the era, but his time in the yellow and black was cut short after just six consecutive games when his military unit was redeployed, ending his VFL career as quickly as it had begun.
